About hereditary angioedema

What is hereditary angioedema (HAE)?
HAE is a rare inherited disease that can cause sudden, unpredictable, and often severe swelling in specific parts of the body, including the abdomen, face, and throat.

HAE symptoms can resemble other conditions that cause swelling and pain, such as severe allergic reactions or stomach problems. Misdiagnosis or delayed diagnosis of HAE is common, so it’s important to talk to your doctor about HAE as a possible cause of your symptoms.

How do I treat HAE attacks once they’ve started?
Acute attacks in the abdomen, face, or throat may be treated by taking a C1-INH concentrate, such as BERINERT, which is used to treat attacks on demand. BERINERT is approved for patient self-administration after proper training by a healthcare professional.

Self-administration at the first sign of an attack with BERINERT can help put you in control of your HAE and increase your independence.

About BERINERT

What is BERINERT?
BERINERT is a fast-acting, on-demand treatment for attacks of swelling caused by hereditary angioedema (HAE). BERINERT works at the root cause of HAE attacks by adding functioning C1-INH to your body, a key protein that is either missing or non-functioning in people with HAE. With the right training, you can self-administer BERINERT, so you can get relief when and where you need it.

Is BERINERT safe?
The safety of BERINERT was proven in both adults and children. The most serious adverse reaction reported in subjects who received BERINERT in clinical studies was an increase in the severity of pain associated with HAE.
